Missing Person & Cold Case Homicide

About Missing People

DISPARITY IN MISSING PERSONS AND COLD CASES

Missing person cases can remain unsolved for decades, putting families through pain and anguish. The latest data from NamUs, the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, indicates that as of June 2022, there are 21,795 people missing within the United States.

United States Census, people who are Black or African American make up 13.4% of the United States population (QuickFacts). However, nearly 40% of missing persons are people of color

Over 80 percent of missing indigenous person cases in 2021 were under the age of 18. Women made up 67 percent of the missing indigenous persons cases, while men made up 33 percent of cases.

Conservative estimates are that one percent of all deaths result in an unclaimed body

ronnie j. reese, sr

In May 2001, a black male was reported missing to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. His name, Ronnie Reese, a loving husband for 20 years to his wife, Aleasha. After filing a Missing Persons Report, Aleasha tried to get media coverage to help locate her husband. It was then that Aleasha realized she had to knock longer and louder to receive any news coverage regarding his disappearance. Sadly, Ronnie was later found deceased. Aleasha and her family found out about his death in the most horrific way. She learned by watching Late Breaking News that his body had been found and positively identified. This unconscionable way of learning your loved one is deceased is beyond horrific and set the course for Aleasha to make sure no other family has the same experience..
